📄️ Getting Started
This section will introduce you to irAuthor and provides a tutorial for building a very simple rule application. This rule application will be self-contained, so it will have no dependencies on external resources (i.e. .NET assemblies, XML docs, databases, web services, etc.). The purpose of this is to get you started using irAuthor, but in a real world scenario, you would most likely have external resources that you will use in your rule application. This tutorial will only cover some of the features of irAuthor and irVerify, and will not cover other components of InRule, such as irServer (irCatalog), irWord, and irSDK. Therefore, the building a .NET application that integrates with InRule (using irSDK) will not be covered in this tutorial, but we have plenty of examples of this available for download on our website.

📄️ Configuring irAuthor
irAuthor can be configured using the Options screen. Also, irAuthor functionality can be extended using Extensions.
📄️ Managing Extensions
irAuthor provides a framework for writing extensions to add additional functionality within irAuthor. There are four ways to use extensions with irAuthor: The default extensions included with irAuthor, those added through the installer like Dynamics and Salesforce, through the Extension Manager, or writing your own extensions by consulting the SDK Developers Guide.
📄️ Culture Settings in InRule
The culture settings of InRule are saved with a baseline of default English (United States) settings. At runtime or during authoring, the culture-specific formatting for dates, datetimes, and numbers are translated into the Windows settings defined by the user session for the operating system. This is true throughout InRule for the authoring of rules in irAuthor, testing of rules in irVerify, and the execution of rules in irServer.
